    The Pleated Skirt sewing pattern is suitable for confident beginners upwards and is designed to fit 15-18 inch teddy bears, such as Build a Bear and Bear Factory teddy bears. To encourage the upcycling of fabric, this pattern has been designed with two sets of pattern templates; full sized templates for when you have a large piece of fabric available for your project and smaller sized templates for use when recycling your old children's clothes. These smaller templates will ensure that when the pattern pieces are sewn together, the seams will line up correctly e.g., on the side of the skirt.

      What you will get ?

      26 page sewing pattern and tutorial that’s available for immediate download so you can start your project straight away. The pattern is sized to fit on A4 and US Letter Paper. A PDF reader (e.g. Adobe Reader or Preview for MAC) will be required to view and print the file.

      The pattern measurements are given in inches and centimetres.

      Skill level

      Confident Beginner.

      No experience in making teddy bear clothes is necessary as each step is explained fully. You will need to have a basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine.

      Sizing

      The pattern is designed to fit 15-18 inch teddy bears such as 'Build A Bear' and ‘Bear Factory’ bears. Please note that all bears are stuffed differently, and head, waist, chest, and arm measurements can vary significantly. Please see the listing photos for finished garment sizes to check that this pattern is suitable before buying.

      Materials & Tools

      To encourage the upcycling of fabric, this pattern has been designed with two sets of templates; full sized for when you have a large piece of fabric available for your project and smaller sized pattern templates for use when recycling your old children's clothes.       Full Sized Templates:

      • Fabric (Pleated Section) – 44 inches width x 3 inches length (112cm width x 7 ½ cm length)
      • Fabric (Top Section) – 19 inches width x 4 inches length (48cm width x 10cm length)

      • Elastic for waist – 31cm x 1 cm / 12½ inches x 3/8 inch

      At Best Dressed Bears, we encourage the upcycling of fabric wherever possible. Gently used lightweight cotton and upcycled old school skirts / pinafores are ideal for this project. Remember to ‘bear’ in mind the size of teddy bear clothes, plain fabrics or fabrics with small patterns/stripes work best.
