These honey flapjacks are easy to make and will be ready for hungry teddy bears in no time at all! Don’t forget to store them in an airtight container once cooled to save sticky little paws from stealing them…..

Preparation time:             Less than 30 mins

Cooking time:                  10 to 30 mins

Serves:                             Makes 16 human-sized pieces

Ingredients:

200g / 7oz unsalted butter

200g / 7oz demerara sugar

200g / 7oz honey

400g / 14oz porridge oats

50g / 1¾oz nuts, dried fruit or seeds (optional)

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180C / 160C Fan / Gas 4

Line a 20 x 30 cm / 8 x 12in baking tin with baking paper (Tip: lightly grease the tin with butter first to make the baking paper stick)

Melt the butter, sugar and honey together in a large non stick saucepan over a medium heat.

Add the oats and nuts, fruit or seeds if using, and mix well.

Spoon the mixture into the tray and press down with the back of the spoon.

Bake in the oven for 15–20 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.  The middle should still be slightly soft.

Remove from the oven and leave to cool in the tin for approximately 15 minute. Turn out and cut into squares.

To Store: Store any leftover squares in an airtight container in a cool place for up to 3 days. Keep out of sight of hungry bears!
